Golden Triangle Itinerary: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur in 7 Days

Ornate historic architecture in Rajasthan

Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form a neat triangle on the map and together offer a remarkable introduction to India — centuries of empires, world-famous monuments, vibrant markets and unforgettable food, all within a few hours of each other.

Days 1–2: Delhi

Explore Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk by cycle rickshaw, visit Jama Masjid and the Red Fort, then contrast it with New Delhi’s India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar. Save an evening for a food walk.

Days 3–4: Agra

Take the early train or expressway to Agra. See the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble glows pink and the crowds are lighter, then visit Agra Fort and the delicate “Baby Taj” (Itimad-ud-Daulah). Mehtab Bagh across the river offers a beautiful sunset view.

Note that the Taj Mahal is closed to visitors on Fridays.

Days 5–7: Jaipur

On the way to Jaipur, stop at the abandoned Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri or the Abhaneri stepwell. In Jaipur, spend your days at Amber Fort, City Palace and Hawa Mahal and your evenings in the bazaars.

Getting around and where to stay

Fast trains connect Delhi and Agra, while a private car offers flexibility for the Agra–Jaipur leg with sightseeing stops. In each city, choose a stay close to the main sights to save time in traffic — near the Taj’s east gate in Agra, and in or near the old city in Jaipur.

Best time to travel

October to March has the most comfortable weather. Winter mornings in Delhi and Agra can be foggy, so keep your Taj sunrise plans flexible.
